Dr. Barbara Bixby

Barbara Bixby - Ph.D., Claremont Graduate School

Dr. Bixby's first journey was as an exchange student to Japan with the American Field Service during her senior year in high school, and she hasn't stopped her cultural exploration since. After receiving a BA in Asian Studies from Scripps College, she joined the Peace Corps and worked in South Korea with tuberculosis patients. She later earned a master's in Public Policy from The Claremont Graduate School and continued on for a Ph. D. in Political Science. Dr. Bixby teaches social sciences with a particular interest in engaging students with the larger community through service learning, exchange programs in Washington DC and Costa Rica, and explorations of the role of citizens in civic society.
